Online meeting with CEO of Destinus Mikhail Kokorich

Mikhail has created successful space tech companies in the USA and now builds supersonic airplanes in Switzerland. In just two years, Destinus has grown from a young startup to a company that costs hundreds of millions of dollars and presents airplane prototypes at the Paris Air Show, the most significant event in the world of aviation.

The startup is developing a technology for traveling at a hypersonic speed between continents. Flight times will be: From London to New York — 1.5 hours instead of 8; From Tokyo to Dubai — 2.5 hours instead of 9.5 hours; From São Paulo to Hong Kong — 4.2 hours instead of 21.5 hours.

The engines are planned to be run on liquid hydrogen that is produced by using renewable energy sources, which reduces the technology's carbon footprint to zero.

The technology is still developing, but the company is already successfully testing prototypes. In May 2023, an advanced second prototype was test-flown at subsonic speed — it was the world's first-time hydrogen was used as fuel for an afterburner. The company has successfully launched prototypes into the air in October, July, and April 2022, as well as in November 2021.
