Cohere to Build Data Center in Canada with Government Support

SpaceX
SpaceX is preparing for the seventh flight of its Starship megarocket. On December 9, the company conducted a static fire test of Flight 7's Super Heavy first stage. All 33 Raptor engines were ignited during the test at the Starbase launch site in South Texas. SpaceX shared photos and videos of the event on social media.
Neuralink
Neuralink has received approval to launch a new PRIME trial. The company will evaluate the results of its brain implant in patients with quadriplegia and study the safety of the brain-computer interface and surgical robot. Neuralink received approval from Canada's regulatory body, Health Canada, to conduct the device trials in Canada, where neurosurgeons will recruit six paralyzed patients.
Cohere
Cohere, an AI startup backed by NVIDIA, plans to build a multi-billion-dollar data center in Canada with financial support from the Canadian government. The government will provide up to 240 million CAD for the project as part of the Canadian Sovereign AI Compute Strategy, which allocates 2 billion CAD for AI infrastructure development.
Chainalysis
Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer Jonathan Levin has been appointed CEO by the board of directors, effective December 3, 2024. Jonathan succeeds Michael Gronager, the company's co-founder and outgoing CEO. "As a founder, I’m incredibly proud of what Chainalysis has achieved," Gronager said, adding that he looks forward to the company's future success.
Anthropic
Last year, Amazon and Anthropic began a collaboration in which Amazon Web Services became Anthropic's primary cloud provider. Today, the partnership deepens: AWS has become Anthropic's key training partner. Amazon announced an additional $4 billion investment in Anthropic. The companies will also collaborate closely on advancing Trainium's hardware and software capabilities.
Anduril
Anduril has announced a strategic partnership with OpenAI to develop and implement AI-based technologies for the defense systems of the U.S. and allied nations. The project will utilize advanced OpenAI models and Anduril's Lattice platform. The initiative aims to explore how cutting-edge AI models can enable rapid data analysis, reduce operator workloads, and enhance situational awareness.
