Raison Venture Digest
Portfolio Company Updates: March 17 – April 9, 2026
We continue to keep a close eye on the progress of our projects and share key updates from the world of technology and venture capital.
Previously, we analyzed two major events that shook the market this month. If you missed them, we recommend checking out our materials on SpaceX’s preparations for the largest IPO in history and how Mercury is transforming into a universal financial system following its acquisition of the AI platform Central.
However, the news doesn’t stop there. In today’s issue, we cover the clash over ethical AI, the record-breaking popularity of neural networks, and new data security standards.
Anthropic
Ethics vs. Defense: A Legal Victory Over the Pentagon
A court has temporarily blocked the U.S. Department of Defense from blacklisting Anthropic as a provider. The conflict arose from the company’s refusal to allow the use of its Claude model for military purposes, including autonomous weaponry and surveillance. The judge ruled the Pentagon's actions to be unjustified. This sets a vital precedent: Anthropic has defended a developer's right to maintain ethical constraints, even within government contracting frameworks.
Record Audience Growth Fueled by Principles
This firm stance in the dispute with the government has paid off in reputational dividends: the number of Anthropic’s paid subscribers has more than doubled since the beginning of 2026. Explosive interest was also fueled by the launch of Claude Code and a Super Bowl ad campaign. While OpenAI maintains its lead in total user base, Claude surpassed ChatGPT in daily downloads at its peak, reaching 1 million registrations per day, underscoring the success of its "AI Safety" strategy.
Technological Leap: The Mythos Model Leak
In parallel with the user base growth, news of the company’s new technological horizons surfaced. Data regarding the Claude Mythos model, featuring "advanced logical reasoning" for science and coding, was leaked online. While Mythos is currently undergoing closed B2B testing, the leak itself — amidst the success of other products — has solidified Anthropic’s status as OpenAI's primary competitor in building the market's most powerful tools.
Cohere
From Text to Voice: A New Benchmark for Quality
While some fight for logic, Cohere, a developer of enterprise LLMs, is focusing on the interfaces of the future. The company released an open-source speech-to-text model that demonstrated best-in-class performance. This is a strategic move: the industry is shifting toward voice control. By releasing such solutions, Cohere is expanding its developer ecosystem and strengthening its leadership in the creation of next-generation corporate interfaces.
Cohesity
Alliance with Dell: A New Standard for Cyber Resilience
The issue of data interaction is equally vital for infrastructure giants. Cohesity, a leader in data protection, announced a deepened partnership with Dell Technologies to protect information at the scale of major corporations. The key solution is integrating Dell PowerProtect with the Cohesity Data Cloud platform. This allows for faster recovery from cyberattacks and more efficient management of massive archives. For investors, this signals a strengthening of the Cohesity ecosystem and its move toward becoming the standard for enterprise IT infrastructure.
Smart Protection with Sophos Technology
In addition to its infrastructure partnership with Dell, Cohesity has bolstered security at the software level by integrating an AI scanner from cybersecurity leader Sophos. The system now checks backups for hidden viruses before restoration. This eliminates the risk of "re-infection," in which a company deploys archived data alongside malicious code. For clients, this means guaranteed protection against the latest threats without purchasing extra licenses; for Cohesity, it cements its status as the most reliable data vault.
AI as a Way to Reimagine Software
These technological steps align with the company’s overarching philosophy. Cohesity CEO Sanjay Poonen presented a vision of the future where AI radically changes how we work with data:
AI isn't eating software. It's making the right software more essential than ever.
Cohesity is betting on transforming data from a passive archive into an active resource: a resource you can "talk" to, finding answers instantly. For clients, this represents a transition from simple storage to extracting real value from data using AI.
