Anthropic

Anthropic founder Dario Amodei was invited to lead Open AI to replace Sam Altman and merge the two companies, but Amodei declined, The Information reported based on anonymous sources. Representatives of the companies have not officially confirmed this news. Also, according to The Information, after the news of Altman's dismissal, more than 100 Open AI business customers contacted Anthropic to discuss terms of cooperation.

SpaceX

On Nov. 18, the company conducted a second test launch of its Starship spacecraft. The attempt ended with explosions of the Super Heavy booster and the Starship itself, but was successful. The main goal was to separate Starship from the booster, which was achieved. All 33 rocket engines worked properly, and Starship spent about 9 minutes in controlled flight. Bloomberg reported that SpaceX plans to take Starlink to IPO as early as the end of 2024. The company has not made any official comment, but Elon Musk on social network X commented on the news as “false”.

Klarna

The company has published excellent financial results for Q3 2023. Operating result amounted to SEK 130 million, compared to a 2.1 billion loss a year earlier. Revenue grew by +30%, GMV increased by +22%, and credit losses shrank by -46%. The company achieved quarterly profitability. As an early step towards its upcoming IPO, Klarna is restructuring and opening a holding company in the UK. However, it does not plan to go public anytime soon.

Scale AI

The company has launched a lab to research the safety of artificial intelligence technologies. The lab will develop systems to evaluate large language models and research AI's potential risks.

Kraken

The U.S. SEC filed a lawsuit against crypto trading platform Kraken for refusing to register as a securities exchange — which, according to the regulator, are cryptocurrencies. It is the SEC's third lawsuit against major crypto exchanges: before that, the exact charges were brought against Binance and Coinbase, and legal proceedings are underway. Kraken denies the charges and will defend itself. Other news: Kraken has launched cryptocurrency trading in Belgium and plans to launch its own second-level blockchain.

StoreDot

Polestar will become the first automaker to equip its electric vehicles with StoreDot batteries. A prototype is planned to be ready next year, and Polestar cars with StoreDot batteries will hit the roads in 2027.

Destinus

Destinus will participate in the second phase of the European Concept of Higher Airspace Operations (ECHO) project, which is co-funded by the European Union. The project aims to develop a roadmap for implementing high-altitude flights. The company is also a finalist in the Monaco Prize for Innovation in Renewable Hydrogen and Transportation; the finals will take place next week.

Animoca Brands

Animoca Brands will launch an accelerator for Web3 startups alongside Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Polygon Labs, with whom it has formed a strategic partnership.

Rubrik

The company unveiled a new artificial intelligence-based tool to help IT specialists respond to cyberattacks faster and more effectively. The solution utilizes Microsoft’s Azure technologies and Rubrik’s own engine based on machine learning algorithms.
