Groq
Groq, an American-based company that builds fast AI inference, was valued at $2.8B after Series D round. The funding round, that raised $640 million for Groq, was led by Cisco Investments, Samsung Catalyst Fund and BlackRock Private Equity Partners. Groq also announced that Stuart Pann, formerly a senior executive from HP and Intel, joined its leadership team as Chief Operating Officе.
Anthropic
Anthropic was included in the annual Forbes Cloud 100 list of the best cloud companies in the world. With a valuation of $18.1 billion, Anthropic is a strong competitor to OpenAI. The company released Claude 3.5 Sonnet in June. According to the company's CEO Dario Amodei, this LLM model is already superior to all competitive models. Claude 3.5 Sonnet is used in various fields, including programming, law and even medicine.
Scale AI
Scale AI was included to the Forbes Cloud 100 List for 2024 with a rating of #7 in the list. Scale AI, with an estimated value of $13.8 billion, is an important data provider for generative AI. At first, the company aimed to be the opposite of AI companies: Scale AI provided human specialists for work that could not be done by AI. This was done to train AI systems in self-driving cars.
SpaceX
NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who arrived at the ISS in June aboard Boeing's Starliner, may return to Earth on SpaceX's Crew Dragon in February 2025 if Starliner remains unsafe. Starliner's mission, initially expected to last eight days, has been prolonged due to propulsion issues. NASA and SpaceX are discussing leaving seats empty on Crew Dragon for the astronauts. Boeing is addressing thruster failures and helium leaks but faces scrutiny over safety concerns. Starliner's mission is crucial for NASA certification.
Neuralink
Neuralink has implanted the brain implant in a second patient. Musk announced this during an 8-hour podcast last Saturday. He added that about 400 of the Link chip's 1,024 electrodes in the patient's brain were functioning as they should. Very little is still known about Neuralink's second patient, except for the fact that they suffer from the same injury as Nolan Arbough.
